Free weight loss support service launched in Rutland

A new telephone service has been launched to help people lose weight.

The 12-week programme will pair people up with a dedicated dietician or nutritionist to create a long-term plan with sustainable goals to lose weight.

The free service will be delivered by Rutland County Council.

The county’s director of public health, Mike Sandys, said: “Weight loss journeys can be really challenging and frustrating without adequate support.

“Trying to balance life, work commitments and other responsibilities while sticking to a restrictive diet or unmeasured physical activities often leads to people giving up and can have a negative impact on their mental health.

“The weight management service is intended to give people the information, support and encouragement they need to make small but impactful changes that can lead to lasting improvements to their health and wellbeing.”

To access the service visit: or call 0333 207 2201.

It is part of the government’s £30m Better Health campaign.
