Genesee County 4-H’ers show equine knowledge | Lifestyles


BATAVIA — The Genesee County 4-H Horse Program was well-represented at the Finger Lakes Region 4-H Horse Bowl Contest.

The contest took place March 12 and included 4-H’ers from across the Finger Lakes region. The highest-placing participants will have the opportunity to represent the region April 8 during the New York State 4-H Horse Bowl Contest at Cornell University.

Horse Bowl is a “Jeopardy-style” competition that tests participants knowledge of equine facts, including breeds, equipment, nutrition and more.

The 4-H Horse Bowl Results included:

n Brynlee Amend — 5th Novice.

n Wyatt Witmer — 1st Junior.

n Leah Amend — 2nd Junior.

n Taylor Fancher — 6th Junior.

n Lexi Witmer — 2nd Senior.

n Eva Rhoads — 5th Senior.

n Tori Kruppenbacher — 6th Senior.

n Novice Team — 2nd Place.

n Junior Team — 1st Place.

n Senior Team — 2nd Place.

Area 4-H officials offered congratulations to all of the 4-H’ers who competed in the contest, while thanking Coach Sara Witmer and volunteer Katie Rhoads for all of their hard work and dedication to the 4-H Horse Bowl Club.

The Genesee County 4-H Program is a youth development program for youth ages 5 to 18 years old. New 4-H youth members, adult volunteers and clubs are always welcome to join.
