‘Let’s Go Gulf Coast’ offering healthy tips for kids during the holiday break
Kids across the Coast will be out of school next week for the holidays and its important for kids to continue being active and healthy.
‘Let’s Go Gulf Coast’ shares tips with News 25 on ways to keep practicing healthy eating habits while home for the holidays.
It is important to eat five or more fruits and vegetables every day.
While on break make sure to monitor how much screen time your child consumes. They should only watch two hours or less of recreational screen time each day.
Complete one hour or more of physical activity every day.
Lastly, consume zero sugary drinks, more water and low-fat milk instead. ‘Let’s Go Gulf Coast’ Health Educator Cathryn Wineski said, “If you are eating cereal in the morning or oatmeal or toast, throw some berries in that cereal. It tastes good. It is full of antioxidants. Also, like bike riding, scooters, skateboarding, all of those things are so fun.”
Wineski says the most important thing is for kids to enjoy the holiday break and get proper rest.
